U.S. report finds making manufacturing more energy efficient could save $47 billion a year

A report from the U.S. BlueGreen Alliance is calling for measures to improve energy efficiency in the manufacturing sector. These would help achieve the benefits identified in a 2009 report from McKinsey and Company that found improved energy efficiency would reduce energy consumption by 21% and save U.S. manufacturers $47 billion a year.

Among the measures proposed in the BlueGreen Alliance's Policy on Industrial Energy Efficiency are improving tax credits targeted at investment in energy efficiency measure and increasing funding for research and development.
